Name: Belle Downes Rating: 1 Date: 2017-06-06 Review: I have waited a good amount of time to write this review because It never seemed to have crossed my mind that I should. So let me start, I attended this school about 10 years ago to be exact and I never would have imagined the torture and humiliation this school would put me through out the years. I attended this school for about 3 years grades 1-3 and through out those years were absolute harassment and abuse from teachers I had and the students I've attended with whether they were in grade 1 or 6. The students were so troubled that even the teachers didn't want to deal with them. My hair was pulled, I was pushed and punched from children much older and bigger than me and the faculty did nothing about it. I realized this was much more deep rooted issues that they had against my mother than myself. Their way of retaliation was to label children if they seem the slight strangest, by slight I mean the simplest thing as fidgeting or not grasping on to the education quickly enough, in grade 1 I had a thing that I would play with my ear which later on I was told that it was normal that children would fidget, they said I had a tick and recommended I get tested for it. My mother was confused about this and went to my family doctor who tested me for this and came out with "there is no sign of any ticks". So we forgot about it and moved on. The second year the same thing occurred, there was another reason why I should be tested which was because I had something called a reading memory recall problem as they put it because I couldn't remember what I read. Of course this was false so we went to a psychologist who tested me and said it was false as well as I remember normally. This was no getting out of hand and it was obvious they were doing this unpurpose for a sick reason. Finally the 3rd year and last I was so lost and left behind because they weren't teaching me. I remember precisely when I was taking a multiplication test I honestly had no idea what to do because I was never properly taught by any of these so called teachers. I put my hand up and an education assistant came up to me and instead of helping me her reply was "You can do it" those words still haunt me to this very day and will for the rest of my life. Later in the year once again they came up with another reason saying I had tourette syndrome, I think people now would catch on that there is an unhealthy pattern here that is occurring. I remember my mother was so mad that she again went to our doctor and has her test me and write a third letter saying that she DOES NOT have tourette syndrome or any kind of disability of any sort. She then informed my mom that I needed to switch schools immediately and the only reason they were doing this was because of funding. She then suggested a private Christian school on the north side that I should attend but I would have to pay for, but it didnt matter but we needed out. My mother fought with these people relentlessly because she knew they were just absolutely horrible people. The only decent person their was the principle Mrs, Player who I remember quitting her job at the end of my time there and feeling so bad for me that she gave me $3.000 in money so I could go to a place called oxford learning where I would be able to be properly helped by tutoring because she knew what this school was capable of. There is SO MUCH MORE I should say but there is no point seeing it happened so long ago. But I share this because its a perfect example of how bad our education system can work especially in the inner city and how you should always stand by your children when things like this happen. I want to warn parents about the schools they put their children in and what they are surrounded with and what they are being taught. I know this school has a bad reputation of testing students and it not doing the child any good and ruining their future for life for labeling them with something that they don't have..
